Meg Durham Artist

Meg Durham

Meg’s practice comprises of figurative wall-mounted and freestanding sculptural work
focussing on human existence. The multi-layered texture denotes life experiences, the
choices that we make informing who we are. She works with stoneware and parian clays to
explore the tensions and contrasts between the materials emulating the juxtaposition of
inner being and external influence.

The idea of human existence being transferred into clay is something she finds fascinating
due to the methodology surrounding her own experiences with ceramic materials. The cool, malleable nature of clay has the ability to be shaped into forms that can translate personal feelings surrounding both physical and emotional health and well-being into something visible and structured allowing a further sense of connectivity and communication through art.
